We need more native animals instead of gorillas. Clean up the exhibits and walkways and lets have more zoo tours and feeding times

I would like to see more interactive displays where we can learn about the animals and their natural environment. I think the Zoo is very important for the region and it is a major attraction to bring tourists etc. I don’t mind the idea of a small fee, provided that there is a improvement in the displays and type. It is important that Council gets this decision right

I think fixing up the current facilities and creating more natural environments and less cages!! (The chimpanzees have a very small!!!! cage)…..
More Trees/Plants and animals in natural areas should be focused on.
I think the Zoo is very important to the region and for tourism. But I also think by making it “free” makes the zoo taken for granted. Funnily enough if we have to pay for something we don’t take it for granted.
I think a small fee, which would help the animal conditions and facilities would be of immense change to the zoo. It doesn’t have to be a huge cost, but a small fee would be still affordable, and would help the animals and help with learning more about them. It should also bring more security to the Zoo to protect the animals.
I think there should also be more guided tours. People like information and they like to be informed, and by having more tours, people feel like they are more involved and it also shows pride in the zoo.
You need a feeding time in the morning, and one in the afternoon. To create more public interest.
Also intergrate (besides the animals ) – Separate interactive areas (even if it’s arts/crafts for children about animals) – would bring in more interactive learning.
Other suggestions:
Small theatre room with Native animal documentaries / 3D movie interaction.

We went there last weekend and we were very impressed with all the new stuff that has been put in! We didn’t get to see the gardens, but the zoo was fun
I believe that those are ‘chimps’ not ‘gorillas’ and their new habitat looked AMAZING! I was pleased to see that some kids that stopped by to have a look were very well mannered and quiet as well
I also loved the newer exhibits/habitats in the new reptile section!
I didn’t see any wombats though? I think that even if you can’t have any wombats on display (I may have missed them, it looks like there was some constructions still going on and I’m looking forward to the next time I visit) – You should have an informational display about the hairy nosed wombat and the research that you’re helping with. (along with a place for donations?)
I think you need some more donation boxes :p I think I only saw one, and it was the crocodile one? Interactive ones would be cool, maybe some local artists could create some? It would get kids (and big kids) more interested in donating I think!
The bird aviary was lovely, I hadn’t been in there before. It would be really cool if there were some kind of binoculars or something though, because I don’t have very good eyes and didn’t bring my glasses
I couldn’t see many of the ones that were a bit further away.
I loved those interactive sculpture/music chairs! I didn’t realise what they were at first as the larger one appeared to have been broken
We had a play on the xylophone one, but it was covered in bird poo, haha (It seems to be that time of year, so many nests! It was pretty cool to see, though we were happy that we didn’t get any mystery surprises dropping from the sky :p)
I’m definitely looking forward to going back. There were several areas that I saw that were under construction, and I saw taht you’re getting some more monkeys
yay!
